Every living organism that inhabits our planet has an important function in its ecosystem. With our collection of books on animals in PDF format, we aim to highlight the relevance of the Kingdom Animalia in the biosphere.

Could we survive without them? The answer is a definite no. You will find in our animal books that human life would be in grave danger if some species were to disappear.

Animals are essential living beings to maintain the perfect ecological balance. The Kingdom Animalia forms a quite heterogeneous group where we humans also enter.

There are three kinds of animals that especially support human life: scavengers (they eat decomposing bodies avoiding the excessive propagation of harmful microorganisms), the most important of which are hyenas and vultures.

The decomposers (transform organic energy into inorganic), among them are earthworms. And pollinators (pollinate plants, making possible the production of seeds and fruits), of which the bee stands out as the most important.

The classification of animals is very broad, there are three main categories: according to their structure, their way of feeding and reproducing. A dog, for example, is a vertebrate animal (structure), omnivorous (feeding) and viviparous (reproduction).

In the history of mankind, there is a historical period (the Neolithic) when humans became more sedentary and needed to domesticate animals for food, transportation and commercial purposes.

Since then, in a slow process, animal husbandry developed and animals began to fulfill various functions. Today, they are a source of food, serve as companions and are used to produce textiles, as well as oils and skins. In addition, thousands of vaccines and medicines are tested on animals before being applied to humans.

These last functions have been condemned by organizations that fight for the conservation of the environment, which includes the protection of animals. It is common knowledge that any modification of the food chains in the Animalia Kingdom endangers the survival.

Nowadays, domestic animals such as cats and dogs are excellent companions and are recommended as therapeutic treatment for important physical and mental health conditions. They are a great help in rehabilitation processes, such as those for depression, anxiety and some neurological conditions like autism and Alzheimer’s disease.

Animal-Husbandry

Animal husbandry is an economic activity of very ancient origin that consists of raising animals for their use. Depending on the livestock species, various derived products are obtained, such as meat, milk, eggs, hides, wool and honey, among others.

The most important livestock species worldwide are cattle, sheep and pigs. However, in some regions of the world, other types of livestock are more important, such as goats and horses, as well as cuniculture, poultry and beekeeping.

Animal husbandry is closely related to agriculture, since on a farm the two can be interrelated. In these cases, the livestock provide the manure, which is used as fertilizer, and the crops provide the feed for the animals.

Cats belong to the Felis catus species, that is, they are felids, just like lions, tigers, cougars, among others. The body of these animals is made by and for hunting, so they are carnivores, which means that in order to survive they must hunt their prey and feed on them.

Already the ancient Egyptians had a penchant for cats, as they were the ones who first domesticated them. It was a revered animal and was part of the daily life of the ruling class and, in fact, there were funerals in its honor.
