The definition of architecture says that it consists of the technique of creating, designing and erecting buildings that act as a habitat for man. These buildings can be homes, offices, recreation or memorial sites.
The word architecture originates from the ancient Greek, and is made up of two terms: «arch», which means chief or authority; and «techné», which translates to creation or construction.
On the other hand, it can be pointed out that architecture is in charge of changing and modifying the physical environment to meet the needs of people. The architecture professionals besides developing constructions according to their utility and form, are also governed by aesthetics. It is due to all this, that architecture is considered as one of the fine arts.
According to various criteria such as its function or objective, Architecture has various classifications, but in global terms its purpose is to create new constructions under criteria of beauty.
Our list of architecture books is composed of more than 40 texts in PDF format in which you can enjoy a wide and interesting content. In addition, we include texts in Spanish and Portuguese so that you can delight yourself by reading about today’s topic in any of these languages.

Bioclimatic Architecture Books
In order to build a building, it is necessary to carry out a study of the area in which the structure will be raised, and equally it is necessary to take into account the climatic conditions, taking advantage of the resources that nature offers: sun, vegetation, rain and air.
In this sense we present you the books and materials of Bioclimatic Architecture in PDF format, being considered as the art of designing buildings based on the atmospheric situation that surrounds them, with the objective of constructing a building that is beneficial to diminish the environmental impact, and to satisfy the needs of its future residents.
The literature presented in these texts will provide you with the necessary guidance so that you know what to take into account before starting the construction of a building, such as: soil conditions, orientation of the house, ventilation system, among others.
Colonial Architecture Books
Colonial Architecture is quite particular, but its concept is handled in the same way everywhere, it is a patriotic architectural style, what does this mean? It indicates that the homeland is highlighted in its designs, for example: the colonial houses in Spain are not the same as those in Argentina, both have details that differentiate them.
These types of houses usually look like temples or monasteries, with plenty of space inside, so much so that when you enter one, you get the feeling of being in a very different place, its chairs, its walls, its high ceilings, all that “old” design makes it possible.
Colonial Architecture dates from the 15th century onwards, and in our times it has been disappearing, as there are less and less people who appreciate the history of a country, and prefer modernism.

Minimalist Architecture Books
The quality of interior design has become a trend that has reached a strong impact in different areas. Currently, the concern for exhibiting the elementary forms of geometry in its maximum expression has become the choice of many experts.
Before building spaces with this type of style, it is important to take a look at the books on Minimalist Architecture, which is distinguished by the motto of doing more with fewer elements, where the search to preserve areas by accentuating their structural forms prevails over filling them with non-useful accessories.
Through these texts, you will be able to give the appearance that you wish to any construction, enhancing the special characteristics of the environments, favoring the amplitude, granting serenity and highlighting the simplicity of each place.
Modern Architecture Books
Have you been to Dubai, if your answer is yes, the structures that you could see there are known as Modern Architecture, however if you have not gone, I recommend you to do it, you will not regret it; although you can also search in google and make a virtual trip through its portal.
Modern Architecture is based on the construction of spectacular buildings, where the greater the innovation, the greater the attractiveness. It is an art that covers everything, both inside and outside, and takes advantage of any existing building material.
It does not have a defined pattern, since any type of building can be made: circular, oval, triangular, rectangular, etc. Nowadays cities are looking more “beautiful” thanks to these wonders of architecture.
Neoclassical Architecture Books
Neoclassicism is basically related to the past, specifically to the imperial times of Greece and Rome, where philosophy reigned as a way of thinking, polytheism as a way of worship, war as a way of conquest, and the sword to control the population. It was a system where there was absolutism as a type of government, a dictatorship.
The precursors of this architectural art were the same rulers and people of military power, who after the conquests erected temples with large columns around them, created vaults to keep their treasures and also built domes.
Currently, Neoclassical Architecture is mostly used in judicial places, such as courts, trying to represent with their structures a place of justice or legal authority.
Renaissance Architecture Books
Mathematics is a quite useful science in many fields, and in what is known as Renaissance Architecture it is fundamental, since this art is based on the construction of “perfect” buildings or those seeking perfection. To achieve this end, it focuses on the use of mathematical calculations to elaborate angles to be used in building.
It is a technique born in Italy during the fifteenth century, and is used in many countries in Europe, especially in temples, cathedrals and museums, an example of this are the Roman buildings, the Vatican, etc.
Today there are few new buildings of this type because the materials needed are high cost, in addition not everywhere are easy to acquire. Marble, terracotta, ceramic glaze, bronze, silver, are some of these materials.
Sustainable Architecture Books
The value of the riches provided by nature is more and more invaluable, therefore the individual is constantly concerned with implementing strategies to contribute to the recovery of the ecosystem and its useful use.
This situation also influences the profession of outlining, designing and constructing buildings and public spaces, which is why experts must estimate a sustainable architectural design mode, based on optimizing natural resources and building systems, with the aim of minimizing ecological impact.
Based on this, we present a selection of materials in PDF format from Sustainable Architecture books, whose content offers the necessary notions to draw ideas based on the analysis of the life cycle of materials, energy use, recycling of waste, among others; and to promote the preservation of the environment.
