The beginning of the history of the United States is somewhat controversial, since some authors place it in the arrival of Columbus and others relate it to the arrival of the ship Mayflower. But, the truth is that its journey can be fascinating, so we are going to mention its most important aspects and that you can also consult in the selection of U.S. history books in PDF format.

Before the arrival of Columbus, several pre-Columbian civilizations inhabited the territory, such as the Anasazi, the Plains Indians, the Inuit, the Woodland Indians, the Iroquois Confederacy (the most advanced civilization that dominated the territory).

There is evidence that the Vikings (Greenland) arrived in America around the year 1000 and settled in some areas of Canada. However, they did not manage to stay or establish stable colonies.

British colonization took place between the 17th and 18th centuries, when they founded the 13 colonies on the Atlantic coast. There was also non-British colonization, in which Spain and France dominated, but were eventually displaced by the British.

The independence of the United States was a process marked by wars that lasted approximately two years. On July 4, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was signed and the feudal government of George Washington began.

Subsequently, events such as the war against Mexico, the abolition of slavery, the Civil War, American colonization, World War I, the Great Depression, World War II and the Cold War are some of those that undoubtedly marked the history of this nation.
